Adam didn't actually name ALL the animals. Just birds, cattle, and livestock. You know. The types you find in children's first animal books. He probably could have been finished in a couple of hours if he didn't dawdle.

Updated: Harley has been adopted. She is doing well in a family of 3 boys who are doing agility training with her.

Harley is up for Adoption at the North Attleboro Animal Shelter. You can learn more about her there as well as at The BenSpark

The jersey barriers and security grating on the windows gives it a fortress-like appearance, but inside the animals seems comfortable and well-cared for. This is looking roughly east. We looked at cats today, and filled out an application to adopt one!

This multi award winning park is situated on the Mid North Coast in the city of Coffs Harbour and sits approximately midway between Sydney and Brisbane. Only an hour's flight from Sydney, with regular scheduled flight to and from the regional airport 10 minutes away. 'Edutaining' (educating/entertaining) and engaging visitors for more than four decades.

On Boxing Day in 1970, the marine park opened as a rescue and rehabilitation centre for native marine animals, and we continue with this work. We have a Rehabilitation Licence issued by NSW - Office of Environment & Heritage - National Parks and Wildlife Services. Additionally, we work closely with our local branch of NSW Parks and Wildlife Services and we have developed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with them on how we will work together for the benefit of our native animals.

Whale Rescue Burleigh Heads_10132009 (196)

Whale Rescue Burleigh Heads
Out taking some morning photo’s, when I notice a baby whale caught in the Shark nets off Burleigh Heads. I rang the police who get the Queensland Primary Industries and Fisheries who are in charge of the net to start the rescue. The men and woman from the Fisheries and Sea World did a fantastic job in freeing the entangled baby whale. They where two very large whales (the mother and escort???) swimming around the baby and staying very close while the rescue was performed. (by a very experience whale rescue team) ....."The sooner we know that we have an entanglement, the better chance we have of a successful release," he said.

www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2009/10/13/147631_gold-coast...
Queensland Shark Control Program Manager Tony Ham said public assistance was needed with reporting suspected entanglements.
"Anyone who sees a whale or other marine life entangled in shark control equipment can call the 24-hour hotline on 1800 806 891.

"With a significant increase in the whale population - approximately 12,000 now migrating each season - entanglements are anticipated at this time of year as the population makes its journey back to southern waters," Mr Ham said.

Including today's entanglement, since 2000 28 whales have been caught in shark control equipment in Queensland.

Of these entanglements, 25 whales have been successfully released...Congratulation to all.........

Location: Talking Rock, Pickens County, Georgia, USA

Comment :: Finally get a blurry pic I can share of the Brown-headed Nuthatch because it is incidental to the actual bird I want to share.. Am currently looking for an identification of this female..

This particular UFB (unidentified flying bird) is a little bigger than your average LBJ and just slightly smaller than a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak.. She's a little flightier than the others when it comes to my presence, too.. Sunflowers, be it platform or nugget feeder provided, by far are her favorite eats..

We went to the Peninsula (San Mateo County) Animal Shelter on Saturday, and came home with these two adorable additions to our family.

We didn't like the names they came with, and they don't seem to respond to them anyway, so we're trying to come up with new ones. The extremely energetic 2-year-old tortie female (formerly "Poof") probably is going to be known as Tiki, and Jeff's still working on a name for the 3-1/2-year-old Maine Coon-mix male (formerly "Fuzz"), who looks a lot like Alex (though his personality almost couldn't be more different).

Update: We went with Maj. Mojito Houdini (because he can get out of any collar we put on him), "Mojo" for short

NYC - Donnell Library Center - Winnie-the-Pooh and Friends
plush stuffed animals
Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Kangna, and Tigger are the original toy animals that inspired the timeless classics by A.A. Mile illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. When We Were Very Young (1924), Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), and The House at Pooh Corner (1928) were first published in England by Methuen Company, Ltd, and in America by E.P. Dutton Company, Ltd.

Long before Walt Disney turned Pooh and his pals into movie stars, Christopher Robin Milne, a very real little boy living in England, received a small stuffed bear on his first birthday. Pooh Bear was bought at Harrods in London for Christopher Robin's first birthday. The toys were brought to the United States in 1947 and remained with the American publisher. In 1987, the toys were donated to The New York Public Library, and housed in the Central Children's Room in the Donnell Library Center on 53rd Street. The toys vacated the Center in May of 2008 in advance of the bulding's tear-down to make way for a luxury hotel.

The House at Pooh Corner is the second volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, by A. A. Milne, notable for the introduction of the character Tigger. The title comes from a story in which Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet build a house for Eeyore. Hints that Christopher Robin is growing up, scattered throughout the book, come to a head in the final chapter, in which the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood throw him a farewell party after learning that he must leave them soon--to attend boarding school, it is implied. In the end, as they say good-bye to Christopher Robin, they realize their time together is ending.

Chapter 2, 8, and 9 were adapted into animation with the Disney featurette Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day. Similarly, chapters 4 and 7 were adapted into Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!, while chapter 6 was adapted in Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore. Chapter 8 was also partially adapted into an episode of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (entitled The Masked Offender). The final chapter was adapted as a closure to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, as well as in the direct-to-video movie Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin. However in the book, Christopher was going to boarding school and wouldn't be coming back but in the films he was just going to school and would come back at the end of the day.

I Found a Bunny Friend on the Subway!
animal friends
B Train, brooklyn, nyc
I was sitting on the train with gabe, when I looked over diagonally across the train and saw this guy with the Brooklyn hoody holding a bunny puppet. He looked so happy as he was talking to his bunny friend. So I made eye contact with him and pionted to his bunny puppet, and he and his bunny winked at me. Then I thought, this was too special to find another grown up in this world who was not ashamed of being in touch with the inner animal in them, so I walked up to him as we were crossing the bridge into manhattan, and I introduced myself:
Me: hello I am Tricia Wolf, and I was wondering if I could take a picture with your bunny friend.
Man: Sure, his name is Mr. Holksten.
Me: Gabe - take a picture with my camera! (hands camera to gabe)
Gabe: (clicks on my camera)
Me: So why do walk around with a bunny puppet? Are you an actor?
Man: No, my friend gave me this puppet and I carry him with me and I talk to him.
Me: Oh ok, bye.

So that was the end of our exchange, he got off at West 4th and we said bye... I wanted to stop him and get his # (for emilia),- I thought he was so cute - a grown man playing with furry animals. - I know you all must think I am psychotic - picking up on strange males on the nyc subway who talk to puppet bunnies - but I swear he was just seemed so lovely - shit I wear a freaking wolf on my head and I walk around talking to myself, growling at strangers and biting people and come on I AM NOT psychotic. really, I am not. grrrrrrrrrROWWWWWWL

Cameron Park Zoo Poster
about animals
Yesterday we took a short road trip up 35 to go check out the Cameron Park Zoo. What a great little zoo. Not crowded, great exhibits, and great animals, and a wonderful photo opportunity. The only critique I have of this zoo s I wish the staff was a little more interactive. I would have liked to have seen the staff more visible out amongst the visitors educating and talking about the animals. I don't think we saw a single staff member all day except those keeping the grounds clean. Today's post is a poster I created for my daughter that she is going to hang in her room of the animals she saw. This poster was created by taking several images and doing 4" x4" crops around the faces to focus in on the eyes to give each animal there own personality. Also consider this a preview of images to come as most likely will be sharing the full images soon. In one visited to this zoo I was able to capture over 20 images I was very proud of. If you have visited this zoo and would like your own copy of this poster let me know.

Odie is a 10-year-old male Beagle mix who weighs 30 pounds. He was brought to Lollypop Farm because his owners could no longer take care of him.

When Odie’s in his kennel he has lots to say, but once he’s out for a walk he’s all Beagle, nose to the ground checking out all the wonderful smells! Odie would be happiest in a home without young children due to his age, and he needs to meet any dogs in your home just to be certain everyone will get along.

This handsome gentleman is available in the Seniors-for-Seniors program, so adopters age 60 and older can take him home free of charge! Odie is looking for a nice, quiet home where he can spend his golden years. Are you the person he's waiting for? Come and meet Odie today!
